A Magic Corded Phone, Huh?

LANDLINE

BY

RAINBOW ROWELL

Let me just say that I would normally never read a book like this.  This is a romance.  A cheeky, cute, and at the same time painful romance.

Why This Book?

I am fairly certain that I read this book because I saw it on a BookTube channel. In fact, I think it is safe to say that I am 100% certain.

This was totally a shallow read. Meaning I saw the cover, recognized it, and thought it was pretty.  So, I checked it out from the library.

Spoiler Free:  What the Heck is This Book About?

Georgie and her husband Neil are not the closest of couples. Neil is a stay-at-home dad and watches after their two daughters while Georgie pursues her career as a comedy writer. Their relationship is so strained that separation seems imminent.

When Neil takes the kids to their grandparents house while Georgie stays behind to work, Georgie struggles to contact Neal by phone. It is only when she uses a landline phone in her mother’s house that she is able to reach Neil. But she reaches Neil in the past.

Thoughts?

I found Rowell’s work easy to read.  The book was rather light considering it was about a troubled relationship.  It was a quick and easy read.  Certainly a vacation book.

Vacation book = beach read; or in my case, North Eastern trip read.

Like It?

I liked this book enough to read some of Rowell’s other work:  Fangirl and Attachments.  I think I just keep drinking and drinking waiting to have my thirst quenched, you know?

Her stories are good.  The writing is good.  So, yeah.  I liked it.
